An animated re-telling of Charles Dickens' Christmas evergreen, that starts off in live action, when a pesky mouse upstages the famous author during a book tour in New York.
Quick on his feet, Dickens weaves the little critter into the narrative.
Reworking a first draft by Robert LLewellyn, I built up the role of the little mouse to spin a fresh take (from a fresh perspective) on the classic ghost story of regret and redemption.
How a pest can become a blessing. No humbug!
CHRISTMAS CAROL the Movie was produced in 2001 by Iain Harvey's Illuminated Film Company Ltd. Directed by Jimmy Murakami (When the Wind Blows), its cast featured Simon Callow (as Dickens and Scrooge), Jane Horrocks, Michael Gambon, Kate Winslet and Nicolas Cage.
And TWO mice!
